• Important Message to SiteSearch Users from Jay Jordan – Jay Jordan, OCLC President and Chief Executive Officer, recently responded to inquiries about the future of OCLC's SiteSearch software suite (removed from Help Zone 1/2/01).
• OCLC SiteSearch Known Bug List (by Detailed Description); OCLC SiteSearch Known Bug List (by Report Number); OCLC SiteSearch Known Bug List (by Category) - Added entries for thirteen more known bugs. • ZBrokerServer.ini Configuration File – Indicated that the owner of ZBroker files should be the same as the owner of other SiteSearch files.

• SiteSearch Environment Ownership – Clarified in installation procedures and system requirements that you should install all SiteSearch software, including bug fixes, with the same user name. Clarified in operating procedures for both UNIX and Windows NT that you should start all SiteSearch processes under the same user name that you used to install the software.
• OCLC WebExpress – Added information about OCLC WebExpress to OCLC Demonstrations section of Community Zone.

• mSQL Scripts and Templates (UNIX) – Added information about the msql import and msql export commands, which are new in SiteSearch 4.1.1. These commands allow you to import and export data into accessdb, the WebZ access control database, in comma-delimited (.csv) format.

  • authos Table – Clarified that sessions value refers to the number of open sessions per autho, not per autho/pwd combination.
  • resources Table – (1) Clarified that resourcename value must match the resource's name in its server configuration file. (2) Explained how to set up Access component when different groups of patrons access the same resource (server) with different accounts.
• Access Client Configuration Files – Clarified that you must set the CheckNameAuthos variable in the [ZBase] section to TRUE when you specify multiple accounts for a server in the resources table of accessdb.
• Database Server Configuration Files – Clarified that you must leave the autho and password variables blank when you specify multiple accounts for a server in the resources table of accessdb.

• Record Builder Save Database – Beginning with SiteSearch 4.1.1, the Record Builder application included with OCLC Database Builder includes a Save (temporary) database. The Save database allows you to temporarily store records from any local database that you populate and maintain with Record Builder before you submit them to their target database.
  • The Save (Temporary) Database – Describes the Save database, the difference between saving, restoring, and submitting records, and ways to incorporate use of the save database into your workflow.
  • Working with the Save Database – Contains procedures for adding a record to the Save database, restoring a record to its target database, editing metadata about a record in the Save database, copying a record from the Save database, and deleting a record from the Save database.
  • Record Builder Process Model and System Overview – Adds the Save database to the process model diagram.
  • Performing Online Updates to Local Databases with Record Builder – Adds the option of storing a record in the Save database to the procedures for creating a new record and updating an existing record.
  • Walkthrough of the Record Builder Interface – Adds the Open Saved option for opening a record stored in the Save database to the walkthrough diagram.
  • Record Builder Screens – Contains links to reference information about new screens related to the Save database.
• Record Builder Database Frameworks – Describes the two database frameworks shipped with the Record Builder application in SiteSearch 4.1.1: Dublin Core(2) (DC(2)) and MARC Catalog.
• Record Builder Configuration Files – Updates the lists of database configuration files and formatting configuration files shipped with SiteSearch 4.1.1.

• IPIG Profile Compliance for Interlibrary Loan Requests – Beginning with SiteSearch 4.1.1, WebZ may send ILL requests electronically to other ILL services if they conform to the ILL Protocol Implementors Group (IPIG) Profile. The configuration for different IPIG-compliant ILL services varies; contact OCLC SiteSearch Product Support if you wish to send ILL requests to an IPIG-compliant system other than OCLC ILL Direct Request. The following documents contain updated information about variables related to the IPIG Profile:

• Configuring an Existing 1.3.x Apache Server to Use the WebZ Extension – In UNIX environments, describes how to use an existing version 1.3.x Apache Web server connect patrons to the Open SiteSearch WebZ system through a Web browser instead of using the Apache server that is included in the SiteSearch installation.

Updated:

• Installing Database Builder (Version 4.1.x) – Added step about registering the sample Record Builder databases with SSDOT if you plan to use them.
• Clarifications to Database Builder documents:
  • Moving the SSDOT Environment – Indicated that when you move the SSDOT environment to another location you must edit the path in the SSDOT startup file (ssdot), as well as editing ssdot.ini.
  • Index Routines – Indicated that you can use the phrase2() routine with the parameter 1 – that is, phrase2(1) – with a custom -ztable to accommodate data with diacritic characters. The pippin utility uses the -ztable during the database build process to determine how it should handle diacritics prior to indexing.
  • The Pippin Utility
    • Indicated that you must specify both the -gsgmltagfile and -fs flags to use a file (the sgmltagfile) that contains a list of SGML tags that you do not want indexed.
    • Provided more information about the format of the data in the sgmltagfile.
    • Documented new flags applicable to SiteSearch 4.1.0 and 4.1.1.
