• The Pears Tags (.tags) File – Describes the contents of the Pears .tags file, which works in concert with certain record handlers to map fields in an SGML, XML, or delimited text record to their corresponding BER tag paths in a Pears database.

• Pears Record Handlers – Provides a comprehensive ireference to the record handlers (data conversion programs) for Pears available with Database Builder in SiteSearch 4.2.0.

• Pears-Newton Index Routine Comparison – Explains how to set up index definitions for Pears databases that are analogous to the most frequently used Newton index routines.

• Description of the Open SiteSearch 4.2.0 Release – Release notes that provide a detailed list of the new functionality, software enhancements, and bug fixes included with the Open SiteSearch Suite 4.2.0 release. Highlights of this release include the new Pears database engine, a new version of the WebZ Out-of-the-Box Interface that can accommodate multilingual interfaces, single-record import and export in Record Builder, and the availability of SiteSearch source code.

• SiteSearch Training Schedule – Modified 2001 training schedule to provide more platform flexibilty. For September, October, November, and December, 2001, the instructor will choose the platform (UNIX or NT) two weeks prior to the class based on the operating system used by the majority of the registrants

• Installing the WebZ Extension (Version 4.1.2) and Installing WebZ (Version 4.1.2) – These new documents include minor changes to UNIX installation procedures and a new installation procedure for Windows NT in SiteSearch 4.1.2. In SiteSearch 4.1.2, the WebZ installer for Windows NT includes both WebZ and the WebZ extension.

• Database Configuration Files - Sections and Variables – Added description for the TermExpansionMax variable. This variable allows you to specify the maximum number of terms to be returned in queries against a local database when the queries include truncation operators or ranges.

• IllService.ini Configuration File – Clarified that the [EMailInfo] server variable should contain the name or Internet Protocol (IP) address of your system's mail server if the mail server resides on a different host than that of your SiteSearch environment. Leave the server variable blank or give it the value "localhost" if the mail server is on the same host as your SiteSearch environment. This applies only to sites that receive interlibrary loan (ILL requests) by e-mail for at least one database.
• Interface Display Configuration Files - Sections and Variables – Clarified that the value of the server variable in the [BookMarkEmail] section of your interface display configuration file(s) should contain the name or IP address of your system's mail server if the mail server resides on a different host than that of your SiteSearch environment. Leave the server variable blank or give it the value "localhost" if the mail server is on the same host as your SiteSearch environment.
