The SiteSearch Database Operations Tool (SSDOT)

The Open SiteSearch Database Builder 4.0.x/4.1.x software includes the SiteSearch Database Operations Tool (SSDOT). SSDOT serves as a text-based, menu-driven interface used to manage the utility programs that perform the database build process. This program, written in Perl, is a component of the SiteSearch system that provides you with an interface to the tools needed to perform the following tasks:

  • build databases;
  • validate the structural integrity of databases;
  • maintain databases through adding, replacing, and deleting records; and
  • make backup copies of databases.

SSDOT also creates a time-saving working environment for system administrators by running time-consuming jobs in the background and by locking databases that are in process so that multiple administrators can safely work in the same environment at the same time.

If you are interested in the tools behind SSDOT, you can review the process and individual references for more information.

Requirements

To use SSDOT, you must be working on an environment that runs Perl 5.0 or higher.

The following concepts, tasks, and references explain how to use SSDOT to access the utility programs that build and maintain your searchable SiteSearch databases.
