Editing the Database Registration Information

The SiteSearch Database Operations Tool (SSDOT), an Open SiteSearch Database Builder 4.0.x/4.1.x component, uses the database utility programs to execute database building and managing processes on registered databases. SSDOT stores all of the necessary information about the database in a registration file located in the <SystemRoot>/dbbuilder/ssdot/info directory so that database building and managing processes can be executed correctly. This database registration information contains data about the location of SSDOT directories and executable files, the format of the database source data, and the percentage to grow a database.

Use the procedures below to edit incorrect or outdated registration information for a database.

Note:

If you receive an error message in the jobs listing after executing a process in SSDOT, you may wish to review this database registration information as a troubleshooting method to ensure that the information is correct.

Requirements

Your database must be registered in SSDOT before you can edit the registration information.

Procedure

Start the SSDOT program and perform the following steps to ensure that your database registration information is accurate.

1. From the SSDOT Main Menu, select the Database Registration option by typing "1" and pressing Enter at the command prompt.

2. To review and edit the database registration information, type "4" and press Enter at the Database Registration screen command prompt.

3. Review all of the registration information to make sure that it accurately describes your database elements. Refer to the Database Registration Information table for a description of what types of information should be included. If you are receiving error messages related to data conversion, pay particular attention to item 13, Format of the raw data. Make sure that this item reflects the correct format of your source data so that the data may be converted into ASN.1/BER format using the database conversion utility programs.

4. If necessary, change the incorrect information by typing the number of the option you want to change at the command prompt and pressing Enter. SSDOT will prompt you with the current value of the option and/or a list of possible options. Make any necessary changes to the information and press Enter.

5. When all of the information is correct, type "s" and press Enter to save the registration information and exit. When prompted, press the space bar to return to the Database Registration screen.

If you wish to exit the registration process without saving any of the new information about the database, type "x" and press Enter. When prompted, press the space bar to return to the Database Registration screen.
