Introduction Submitting ILL Requests for Testing Testing WebZ's Ability to Send ILL Requests to OCLC ILL Direct Request Testing WebZ's Ability to Send ILL Requests to an E-Mail Address
Introduction
This topic describes how to test WebZ's ability to process ILL requests. It assumes that you have enabled ILL processing for one or more databases. It includes instructions for testing sending ILL requests generated by SiteSearch patrons to a specified e-mail address and to OCLC's ILL Direct Request Service.
Before you test ILL processing with WebZ, follow one or both of the following procedures, based on your site's needs:
Submitting ILL Requests for Testing
This procedure
applies to both methods of processing ILL requests. It describes how to
create and submit an ILL request from SiteSearch, using the WebZ Out-of-the-Box
Interface (OBI).
1. Conduct a search against a database for which you want to test the ability to generate ILL requests.
|
2. Click one of the references on the search results screen to display a bibliographic record for this reference.
|
3. Click
the [Request] button (version 4.1.0) or the [Interlibrary Loan]
button (version 4.0.2).
|
4. Verify that the default information you specified in IllService.ini appears in the appropriate fields on the screen.
|
5. Complete the ILL request screen.
|
6. Click the [Submit Request] button.
|
7. Repeat steps 1-6 to test sending an ILL request from another database.

Testing WebZ's Ability to Send ILL Requests OCLC ILL Direct Request
To test WebZ's ability to submit ILL requests to OCLC ILL DirectRequest, you use a test environment at OCLC.
You can submit requests using your own institution's OCLC symbol, authorization, and password, or an ACQ test account.
1. Open IllService.ini (located in <WebZ_root>/servers, where <WebZ_root> is the directory where you have installed SiteSearch) with a text editor.
|
2. Set the hostname and port variables in the [IllServer] section of IllService.ini to those for the OCLC ILL Direct Request test environment (hostname=testenv.oclc.org and port=5771).
|
3. Which account do you want to use for sending ILL test requests?
- Your institution's ILL account. Make sure the instSym, autho, and password variables in the [IllServer] section of IllService.ini contain your ILL institution symbol, authorization, and password, respectively.
- The ACQ test account. Set the instSym, autho, and password variables in the [IllServer] section of IllService.ini as follows:
instSym = ACQ autho = 100-091-178 password = test
|
4. Use the RequesterNote variable in the [IllInfo] section of IllService.ini to enter a note to allow you to identify your test records once they reach OCLC ILL Direct Request.
|
5. Save and close IllService.ini.
|
6. Follow the procedure, Submitting ILL Requests for Testing, to send one or more ILL requests to OCLC's test environment.
|
7. Use Telnet to log on to the ILL Direct Request test environment, by entering this command:
telnet testenv.oclc.org 5571
Use the authorization and password you specified in IllService.ini in step 3 to view your test records.
|
8. See the OCLC ILL Direct Request Service Planning Guide for instructions for viewing your test records.
|
9. When you finish testing the link between WebZ and ILL Direct Request, edit IllService.ini so that the hostname, port, instSym, autho, password, and RequesterNote variables contain the values that pertain to your production environment.
|
Testing WebZ's Ability to Send ILL Requests to an E-Mail Address
1. Follow the procedure, Submitting ILL Requests for Testing, to send one or more ILL requests to the e-mail address you have designated for this purpose.
|
2. Verify that the ILL request reaches the e-mail address you designated as the recipient for ILL requests in IllService.ini.
