Support Reorg
OCLC announced the reorganization of User Support and Custom Services earlier this summer. Victoria Miller, former manager of the department, is now overseeing a new project within Distributed Systems, the OCLC division responsible for the Open SiteSearch Suite. Kara Byerly replaces Victoria as manager of User Services. The Documentation, Training, Product Support and Custom Services units have been merged and renamed Open SiteSearch User Services. Kara has been with SiteSearch for over two years as a product support specialist and technical writer. |

OCLC has updated the Help Zone to offer additional functionality and documentation for SiteSearch users. Users can now search the entire Help Zone site for information or limit the search to a particular zone. Search results are presented by relevancy ranking. OCLC has added documentation for Interlibrary Loan and a detailed explanation of how SiteSearch generates interfaces. Check the What's New section at the top of the Help Zone homepage. Also new to the Help Zone is the Community Zone -- a forum area for SiteSearch users. The Community Zone was started in response to user requests from the March 1999 User Meeting to facilitate communication between users and OCLC. The Community Zone will announce information about upcoming events and provide links to OCLC demonstrations. We hope to provide additional features in the coming months. |
