SiteSearch. But if you have a one-a-kind project or don't have the time or resources
to create the environment you really want, then you might consider another service
available to our users: Custom Services. Custom Services means creative solutions.
We have the technical staff and experience to develop specialized looks and features
that meet the needs of your patrons. No one knows your patrons better than you.

What is Custom Services?
Custom Services is a component of Open SiteSearch User Services. It is comprised
of a team of developers and support staff each with an extensive understanding
of SiteSearch -- the same people who develop the software and answer user problems
submitted to the Product Support. Custom Services handles any type of customization
requirement you may have. Your needs direct Custom Services. Typically Custom
Services develops solutions from OCLC's offices in Dublin OH. Any work done
on your system is usually handled remotely. However, Custom Services can also
provide in-house solutions depending on the nature of the project.
How does Custom Services
differ from Product Support?
Custom Services differs from Product Support in the degree of assistance provided to users. Product Support troubleshoots problems experienced with installing and operating the software. Depending on the scale of the request, Product Support may also offer helpful suggestions on how to make changes to the user's environment. Product Support will not make the changes itself, however. Custom Services will contract with a you to provide a specified service or software for delivery.

What is the evaluation period?
Custom Services provides a two-week period for evaluating deliverables. We test software extensively prior to delivery and ask you to thoroughly check that the software functions correctly in your home environment. If the work solves the your stated needs, billing proceeds. If the you do not accept the work, OCLC will diagnose the problem and continue refining the deliverables.
