SSDOT Registration
Procedures for a Pears Database
Before you can
update or maintain a Pears database using
SSDOT for Pears, you must first register
it. As part this registration, you name the database and declare the location
of its database description configuration
file. By supplying this initial information, SSDOT
for Pears is then able to find the rules for creating
a new Pears database and it is able to derive the names and locations
for other incidental files and directories. Registration information for
a Pears database does not have to remain static, though. After initially
registering a Pears database in SSDOT
for Pears, you can change, print, or delete its registration information
by selecting the Edit Registration option off the Registration Menu. For
example, you may change your mind about where you want to store log files
or backup copies of the database. The procedure below walks you through
the initial registration activity that you must perform on each Pears
database in order to manage it within the SSDOT
for Pears environment.

Before
you can register a Pears database in
SSDOT for Pears, you need to complete
the following tasks:

Follow the steps
below to register a new Pears database
in SSDOT.
1.Change
directories to the <WebZ_root>/dbbuilder/pearsExes
subdirectory.

2. Which
operating system are you using?
- UNIX:
Type ssdot at the system prompt.
- Windows
NT: Double-click on the ssdot.bat file.

Registration Menu by selecting 1 from the Main Menu and then pressing
the Enter key.
